For Children’s Book Week, Plein Theater is hosting three performances inspired by children’s books and by the stage itself. This one is Donnie wil de hoofdrol, for ages 4 and up.
Donnie would love to play the princess in the school musical. Teacher juf Ruth does not think that is a good idea, since he is not a girl. So Donnie takes the part of the dangerous dragon instead, though the princess’s songs are still his favourite. The show is interactive and is about being allowed to be yourself, about dreams, and about the freedom to play whoever you want. It is based on the book of the same name by Lisa Maschhaupt, with illustrations by Saša Ostoja.
The performance is on 6 October at Plein Theater and is part of Kinderboekenweek, which runs from 30 September to 11 October.
Good to know: The performance is interactive and takes place at Plein Theater, Sajetplein 39, 1091 DB Amsterdam.
