Het Scheepvaartmuseum runs an autumn holiday programme from 10 to 25 October, for families and children. The activities run from 10:00 to 17:00 and are free with a valid museum ticket. You can take in photographer Stephan Vanfleteren’s mysterious work, make your own letter or drawing at the drop-in workshop, listen to a story, or head out on the lookout trail yourself.
The drop-in workshop was made with ArtPlayground and is open daily between 11:00 and 15:00. You read, write or draw about your own home. Drawings and letters made during the summer holiday were sent to Suriname, and children at The Hub in Paramaribo sent theirs too, so those will be looked at during the autumn holiday.
The story is Walvissen aan Wal by Nick Bland, about whales that come out of the sea to live on land, and about people and looking after water and nature. It is told at 11:00 and 11:30, and lasts 25 minutes.
Good to know: Sign up for the story at the information desk on the Open Plein.
