days out, tried and tested
This is the category for a day out with a start time. Thirty-one are listed: kindertheater and puppet shows at the Marionette Theater and the Black Cat in Amsterdam and at the puppet theatre in Amstelveen, open-air performances at the Amsterdamse Bostheater, bowling from Almere and Lelystad up to Julianadorp and Den Helder, an escape room in Bergen and an attic theatre in Sint Pancras. Sixteen are in Amsterdam, three in Amstelveen, and the rest are spread through North Holland and Flevoland. Twenty-three are wheelchair accessible, fourteen have an accessible bathroom and thirteen do food on site.
38 family experiences in the Netherlands

Every town with something in this category has its own page. The number is what is listed there today.
Usually, but that matters less than you would think. Puppet and marionette theatre — the Amsterdam Marionette Theater, the Black Cat, the Amstelveens Poppentheater — carries most of its story visually, and families who speak no Dutch report following it perfectly well. Larger houses such as DeLaMar and CREA in Amsterdam do occasional English-language family programming; their listings link through to what is on.
Almost everything in this category is indoors. Theatres, bowling alleys and the escape room all work regardless of the weather, and De Hallen in Amsterdam gives you a food hall, a cinema and a library under one roof. Thirteen of the thirty-one listings serve food on site, which is the other thing a wet afternoon needs.
Twenty-three of the thirty-one are tagged wheelchair accessible and fourteen have an accessible bathroom, which is high for this kind of venue — the theatres and the modern bowling centres are generally good. Older buildings are the exception. The facilities on each listing are what the venue itself publishes.
