days out, tried and tested
The buurthuis is where a Dutch neighbourhood keeps its cheap, unglamorous, genuinely useful things for children: a weekly craft afternoon, a circus class, a holiday programme, a hall you can hire for a kinderfeestje. Four are listed here so far, all in Amsterdam — CC Amstel, which runs around two hundred activities a year across circus, dance and visual theatre; the volunteer-run Buurtgebouw Henrick de Keijser in De Pijp; the collective-run OT301; and the Buiksloterkerk in Noord, a church that doubles as a cultural centre. The category is plainly unfinished, and any centre can add itself through the free listing form.
