On 10 and 11 October, Het Scheepvaartmuseum presents a dance theatre collaboration by Sites of Memory. Artists from the Netherlands, Sri Lanka and South Africa work together on Space of Becoming, which looks at how colonial legacies, slavery and inequality carry through into personal lives and societies today.
The performance uses dance, music, image and spoken word. It is directed by Katy Streek (Sites of Memory, Netherlands), Luke de Kock (Camissa Create, South Africa) and Kapila Palihawadana (nATANDA Dance Theatre Sri Lanka).
Show times are 12:00 and 15:30, and each one runs 60 minutes. It is for everyone. Tickets are 25 euro regular, including museum entry, and 13.50 for students.
Good to know: The performance is multilingual, in English, Dutch, Afrikaans, Papiamentu, Sranan Tongo and Sinhala.
