On 9 October 2026 at 16:00, Theater De Krakeling hosts Samar and the Scared King. Samar is not afraid, but the king is. He shuts himself in his castle and lets Fear whisper to him. Fear sees danger everywhere. To keep the elephants out, the king builds walls and makes rules: everyone must be the same, speak the same, think the same. Everyone goes along, except Samar. She is not afraid of the elephants or the king. She sees Fear too, but does not take it too seriously. As the king tries harder to keep control, Samar makes everything waver. It is a humorous and moving fairy tale about fear and power, control and imagination, and about what happens when one person decides not to take part.
