Lennox en de gouden sikkel, the children’s book by Zindzi Zevenbergen, Hedy Tjin and Brian Elstak, has been turned into an opera by RIGHTABOUTNOW INC. and De Nationale Opera. It plays at Nationale Opera & Ballet on Amstel 3 in Amsterdam, listed for 10 October 2026. The makers call it a groovy youth opera for ages 8 and up.
Lennox knows his father is ill, but nobody tells him what is going on. When his father forgets to take his lucky necklace to the hospital, Lennox sets off after him together with his best friend. What follows is, in the makers’ words, an energetic hiphop opera about family, friendship and daring to do things.
Good to know: The makers describe it as a groovy youth opera for ages 8 and up.
