Oscar and the Giant

At Plein Theater, Sajetplein 39 in Amsterdam, Oscar and the Giant is on 31 January 2027 at 15:00. Oscar lived for seventeen years. He could not walk or talk, but with his father he had more adventures than many people in a whole life. Some of those adventures seemed more like fairy tales than memories.

On stage the father is played by David Geysen, who in real life was friends with the father. He tells the story with humor, joie de vivre and the pain of someone who misses his child. The father takes us into the stories that keep him standing, but in which he also seems to lose himself. The performance asks if he is a caring father, a hero, a storyteller, or someone who sometimes loses his boundaries so he does not have to face his grief.

House of Rat invites an adult audience to be amazed in a childlike way, by going along with the imagination, absurdity and lightness with which Oscar and his father shaped their own world. Theaterkrant named it critic’s choice.

Good to know: House of Rat invites an adult audience.
