At the Allard Pierson on Oude Turfmarkt 127 in Amsterdam, the University of Amsterdam collections are shared with the public and with science. During the autumn holiday, children can work as researchers themselves. They can find out which games were played in ancient Greece and how the Romans paid.
With your family you can visit the Van Nijl tot Amstel exhibition and go on a discovery tour through the Egyptian, Roman and Greek departments. The scavenger hunt is available at the museum desk. In the Sterrenkijkersspeurtocht you investigate how people thought about the night sky in the past. You solve puzzles using a 2,000-year-old lion horoscope, an 18th-century clock and images of Egyptian gods. Thousands of years ago people also looked at the stars.
Good to know: The scavenger hunt is available at the museum desk.
