About

An Amsterdam midwifery practice with a full English site. Two teams, Red and Yellow, split the caseload so an experienced midwife is on call 24/7 for whichever team you are assigned. They cover prenatal check-ups, home, birth-centre and hospital births, and postnatal home visits, and run their own ultrasound centre, pregnancy and breastfeeding courses, a 0-4 child health clinic and TENS rental. Consultation hours at De Genestetstraat plus Houthavens, Amsterdam Zuid and Badhoevedorp. Midwifery care is covered by Dutch basic insurance.

Insurance & costs

Covered by basic insurance

Midwifery care is in the Dutch basic package, reimbursed by all insurers and not deducted from your eigen risico; they hold contracts with all insurers.

Frequently asked

Will someone be reachable if labour starts in the middle of the night?

Yes. Each team has its own 24/7 emergency number for contractions or urgent questions - Team Red on 020 2601706 and Team Yellow on 020 2601287 - and if one team does not answer you are asked to call the other.

Can I give birth at home, or does it have to be in hospital?

They support home births, births at the birth centre and hospital births, and because they run two backup teams they guarantee an experienced midwife from the birth centre attends the delivery.

What will midwifery care cost me?

Midwifery care sits in the Dutch basic insurance package, so every insurer reimburses it and it does not count against your eigen risico. They hold contracts with all insurers. A missed appointment without cancelling 24 hours ahead is charged at 30 euro, or 50 euro for a first check-up.
