A historic house museum showcasing period interiors and art collections.
This museum combines art and history in a way that captivates both adults and children, with dedicated spaces for kids to play and learn.
House Willet-Holthuysen offers a glimpse into life in a grand 19th-century Amsterdam canal house. As you walk through the beautifully preserved rooms, you’ll find elegant furniture, Venetian glass, porcelain, artwork and a peaceful formal garden at the back of the house.
The museum is smaller and quieter than many of Amsterdam’s larger museums, making it a manageable visit with children. Older kids who enjoy history or exploring different rooms may find it interesting, though it’s better suited to calm children rather than toddlers wanting to run around.
There is no dedicated indoor play area, but the museum occasionally offers family activities and interactive storytelling elements during special events and school holidays.
A typical visit lasts around 45 minutes to 1.5 hours. Family-friendly facilities including changing tables are available on site.
