Who we are
Hi, I’m Samira — a mum of two who’s called Amsterdam home for over 10 years. Like most parents here (Dutch and international), I spent years piecing together weekend plans from scattered Instagram stories, WhatsApp groups, and half-remembered recommendations.
AmsterdamKids started as a simple way to keep track of the good spots for my own kids. It grew into a proper guide when other parents started asking for the same information.
Today the site covers kid-friendly places, events, and deals across the Netherlands — still rooted in Amsterdam, but useful whether you live in Utrecht, Haarlem, Rotterdam, or are just visiting.
How we choose what goes on the site
Every place and event is reviewed before it appears. We look for spots that are genuinely welcoming to families — not just “kids allowed,” but actually set up for them (high chairs, changing tables, play areas, clear age guidance, etc.). We visit where we can, read parent feedback, and keep listings updated. If something stops meeting the standard, it comes down. Rankings and recommendations are never paid for.
