Amstelveen sits directly south of Amsterdam and is, by design, the easier version of it: wider pavements, more grass, free parking in most places and the Amsterdamse Bos — a forest the size of a small town — along its northern edge. Tram 25 reaches it from Amsterdam Zuid in about fifteen minutes. It has a large international community, which in practice means English is spoken almost everywhere and a good number of family services and classes are run in it as a matter of course.
