Family photographers in the Netherlands

Newborn sessions in the first two weeks, a maternity shoot before that, and the family photographs you keep meaning to book and never do. Nine photographers are listed here — search in Dutch and the same people turn up as kinderfotograaf or gezinsfotograaf — working in Amsterdam, Haarlem, Utrecht, Amstelveen, Zaandam, Hilversum, Almere and Weesp. Eight shoot in your own home or on location, six have a studio, and eight work in English. Published session prices start at around €195 and run to about €550 for a longer fine-art maternity or newborn session.

Common questions

Answered from what is actually listed on this page, not from a template.

When should I book a newborn photographer?

Most newborn photographers here prefer to shoot in the first two weeks, while babies still curl and sleep deeply, which in practice means booking during pregnancy and holding a loose date around your due date. Maternity sessions are usually shot between 28 and 34 weeks. Nine photographers are listed on this page, so there is normally someone with room.

Do family photographers come to your home?

Eight of the nine listed shoot on location or in your own home, which for newborns often works better than a studio: the baby stays warm, fed and near everything. Six also have a studio, and several offer both and let you choose when you book. Most will travel beyond their own city, so ask about a travel fee if you are further out.

How much does a family photo session cost in the Netherlands?

Published starting prices on this page run from about €195 for a short on-location family session to around €550 for a full maternity or fine-art newborn session. What is included — the number of edited images, print files, an album — varies a great deal, so compare what you actually receive rather than the headline figure.
