Family ServicesFamily health & wellbeing services in the Netherlands
The everyday health side of family life: an expat-friendly huisarts to register with, a kindertandarts who treats nobody over fourteen, paediatric physiotherapy for a baby with a flat head or a child who is late to walk, dietitians who work with children, and dental practices that see the whole family in one trip. Eleven practices are listed, eight of them working in English and ten in Dutch, in Amsterdam, Amstelveen, Haarlem, Utrecht, Almere and Zaandam. Ten see you at their own practice, and four also make home visits.

Common questions
Answered from what is actually listed on this page, not from a template.
Can I find an English-speaking doctor or dentist?
Eight of the eleven practices listed here work in English, including an expat-friendly GP practice in central Amsterdam and an English-speaking dental clinic with a children’s section. Ten also work in Dutch. Registering with a huisarts near your home is the first step in the Dutch system; specialists are normally reached by referral.
Does Dutch insurance cover children’s dental care and physiotherapy?
Dental care for children under 18 is covered by Dutch basic health insurance, and children’s physiotherapy is covered for a set number of sessions a year depending on the condition and your policy. Published private starting rates on this page run from about €58 to €125. Check with both the practice and your insurer before the first appointment.
Where are these practices?
The eleven listings run from Amsterdam — Centrum, West, Noord and Zuid — out to Amstelveen, Haarlem, Utrecht, Almere and Zaandam. Ten publish a street address, so you can see how far it is before you book, and you can narrow this page by area with the filter above the grid.
