Insurance & costs

Costs

Kraamzorg is often covered by health insurance; works through the Kraammarkt platform, which connects the practice to all insurers.

Frequently asked

What is kraamzorg and how long does it last?

It is the Dutch system of at-home postnatal care. A maternity nurse visits for roughly eight to ten days after the birth, helping with newborn care, breastfeeding advice and information about your baby's health.

Is kraamzorg covered by insurance?

In the Netherlands kraamzorg is often covered by health insurance. Insurance questions are handled by Maria's partner, who manages claims, so a reply may come from her rather than Maria.

What about older brothers and sisters?

Siblings are included: weighing or dressing a favourite cuddly toy, drawing for the new baby, and baking and decorating cookies together, so they can practise helping care for the newborn.
