Kindertandartspraktijk van Lunsen-Oehlers
Small children-only dental practice in Amsterdam-Noord
About
A deliberately small dental practice in Amsterdam-Noord where only children are registered, up to age 18. It sits on the ground floor of the Tuindorp Oostzaan health centre, and the same two paediatric dentists, Danielle van Lunsen and Eline Oehlers, and their assistant have worked there for over fifteen years, so your child sees the same faces each time. They work in steps, letting anxious children get used to things before treatment, alongside cavity prevention. Children come on referral. They speak Dutch and English.

Frequently asked
How do we register?
New patients are taken on referral from your own dentist; you then phone the practice to register. Expect a wait of four to eight weeks for the first consultation, and note that appointments often fall during school hours.
What if my child has toothache?
For children already registered they aim to see urgent pain the same day. They cannot take on pain complaints for children who are not yet registered. Outside opening hours the site lists the Mondzorgpoli and the OLVG emergency numbers.
What does it cost?
In the Netherlands the health insurer covers all dental costs for under-18s, with exceptions such as orthodontic braces. The only thing this practice may charge for is a late cancellation or a missed appointment.
