Franssen Advocaten
Family and immigration lawyers for internationals
About
A small Amsterdam firm, set up in 2013, that handles only two things: international family law and immigration law. That combination is useful if your family situation and your right to stay in the Netherlands are tangled together. Peggy Franssen and Martha Ande advise on divorce, parenting plans, parental authority, contact arrangements, child and spousal maintenance, dividing property, and on residence permits, family reunification and DAFT visas. They work with international clients and expats in English, and mediation can be run in English in some cases.

Frequently asked
Do you work in English?
Yes. The firm advises international clients and expats in particular, runs an English-language site alongside the Dutch one, and in some cases mediation can be conducted in English as well.
Can one firm handle both our divorce and our residence permits?
That is exactly the combination they practise. Alongside divorce, parenting plans, custody and maintenance, they handle residence permits, work visas, family reunification and the Dutch-American Friendship Treaty visa.
What will it cost, and is legal aid possible?
No fixed rate is published. They assist clients who qualify for subsidised legal aid via the Raad voor Rechtsbijstand, offer a one-off advisory meeting at a flat rate, and give you a cost estimate for proceedings at the first meeting.
We want to move abroad with our children after separating. Can you advise?
Yes. Moving with children, parental authority, visitation and childcare arrangements are all listed practice areas, and the firm specialises in cross-border family matters such as international divorce and international adoption.
