Frequently asked
Who can we bring to the Netherlands?
Dutch citizens and holders of a non-temporary residence permit can bring a married or unmarried foreign partner, and minor children who have kept family life with that parent. Adult children only qualify in exceptional circumstances, and adopted children fall under separate conditions.
Is there an income requirement?
Yes - the family member here must have independent, sustainable income of at least the statutory minimum wage, generally with a contract of at least a year, or 1.5 years of sufficient income for entrepreneurs and freelancers. There is no income requirement if they have reached retirement age or are fully incapacitated for work.
Can we get help with the cost?
They can assist clients referred by Het Juridisch Loket, and if you qualify for subsidised legal aid they will help you apply for a certificate from the Legal Aid Board.
