Amsterdam Fysio
Physiotherapy practice with a dedicated children's centre
About
Amsterdam Fysio on the Korte Prinsengracht has offered physiotherapy for children since it opened in 2008, in its own children’s area. Kids come for motor development lagging behind friends, clumsiness or DCD, an unusual walking pattern, handwriting difficulties, sports injuries, headaches, breathing problems such as asthma, and sensory processing issues. They gather information from you, teachers and the GP, do a motor assessment, then build a plan with you and your child using child-sized equipment. With babies it is largely handling and play advice for parents. Home visits possible.

Frequently asked
Do we need a referral?
For children with a chronic indication, full reimbursement from basic insurance requires a referral from a specialist or GP. Physiotherapy for children under 18 is reimbursed 18 times a year from basic insurance; check your own policy.
What happens at the first appointment?
They collect information from you, and where relevant from teachers, the GP and others involved, look at how your child behaves in different situations and carry out a motor assessment. The findings are discussed with you and your child and a treatment plan is agreed together.
Can you come to us?
Yes, where necessary they treat at home; the rates page lists a €15,00 home-visit surcharge on top of the treatment price.
